Fishing at Mount Rainier National Park

Mount Rainier is not known for fishing, but many lakes were historically stocked with non-native fish. Anglers can play an important role in protecting native fish populations by following fishing regulations and reducing numbers of non-native fish.

Park entrance fee required. No permit or license required for fishing.

Accessibility

Access to water features within the park varies, but usually involves some initial on-trail travel, then off-trail travel to approach the water source. Trails are usually narrow, un-paved, and are often broken by tree roots or other obstacles. River and lake shores are often surrounded by dense forest, and ground can be soft and marshy or can have steep or rocky drop-offs to reach the water level.
